Shawnigan Lake, BC- The SRA believes that the protection of drinking water for the residents of Shawnigan Lake is an issue that cannot be left unchallenged.
Today, the SRA has taken the extraordinary step of retaining legal counsel to represent the board and our community in what we expect to be a highly contested process before the Environmental Appeal Board and if necessary the courts.
Litigation partners Robert Anderson Q.C. and Sean Hern of Farris LLP, one of the leading law firms in British Columbia, will act on behalf of the SRA in all legal matters pertaining to stopping the SIA permit.
At stake is the future of our community and the security of our drinking water. The Government to date, has not been willing to take the necessary steps to protect our drinking water, this despite overwhelming public concern and clear scientific evidence. The SRA is stepping up to do what the Province seems unwilling to do.
The SRA's values are grounded in supporting, promoting and protecting the best interests of the people of Shawnigan Lake. We will continue to strive towards fulfilling this commitment to our community.
We are appealing to the community and supporters to help us in raising funds for this legal action and are accepting donations for legal action on our website.
Please join us in protecting our drinking water.
